Coins are produced and issued by the government to be used as legal tender in exchange for goods or services. Every country has its own coin which is made of a metal and some artificial substances. It also comes in different sizes, weights, shapes and forms. In addition to this, the metals used in coins are higher than their face value which made people like in certain places, to smuggle thousands of coins.
Canada coins for example vary on their denominations. Canada has seven denominations for its coins ranging from one cent piece to two-dollar coin. These canada coins are issued by the Royal Canadian Mint with inscriptions on it.
Dime coins include USA coins which have a value of ten cents. Draped Bust, Barber, Roosevelt, Capped Bust, Seated Liberty and Winged Liberty Head are the six different types of dimes coins. Roosevelt is being used at present consisting of 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel designed by John R. Sinnock and has the images of past President Franklin Roosevelt, an olive branch, torch and oak branch.
Nickel coin is worth five cents in US coinage and has existed because of the silver shortage during and after the Civil War in America which bears the image of Monticello and past President Thomas Jefferson.
Numismatics which is the study or a hobby of collecting different coins is still popular today. The NGC which stands for Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, serves such people to help them know the condition and genuineness of the coins.
Although some people have this hobby of collecting coins, they have to know that coins are there to facilitate us in practices of commerce. As citizens of different countries, we have the responsibility to keep things in order and without these coins which are purposely for trade, we will make things worse. Keep in mind that coins need to be circulated.
